Wayland Hsiao, MD

"I am passionate about reproductive medicine and helping couples become parents. I am a fellowship trained reproductive urologist and I specialize in treating male factor infertility. There have been so many exciting developments in the field of reproductive medicine including the introduction of microsurgical procedures. I am proud to able to provide cutting edge treatment to help you attain your dream of having a baby."

"I grew up in Los Angeles and have always loved the diversity and beauty of California. So after spending 15 years out east completing my medical training and starting my career as a Reproductive Urologist, I am happy to be back in my home state of California. I left my Assistant Professor position at Emory University to join Kaiser Permanente because I believe this is where I can deliver the highest level of patient-focused care. At Kaiser Permanente, a member's health and quality of life is paramount and the lofty mission of Thriving is the ultimate goal. Providing the best service to my patients' means being available, providing critical information and taking the time to get to know each patient as an individual. It is important that I treat each patient as a whole, not as a specific diagnosis or disease. I pride myself on creating an environment where you feel comfortable discussing sensitive medical issues."

"A lot of doctors would rightfully say that what I treat is male infertility. But I like to think of my practice as that of male fertility, or, enabling men to father a child. Sometimes that involves advanced reproductive science, sometimes that involves just removing some stress, and sometimes it means thinking about other ways to form a family. For me personally, raising a family is one of the most important aspects of my life. I want everyone seeking parenthood to share in the incredible joy of creating their own family. For those who face difficulty conceiving, the path to parenthood can be a stressful and challenging time."

"My job is to work with couples to relieve some of that stress, explain the various aspects of male-factor infertility, and develop a comprehensive, tailor-made plan to overcome barriers to fertility. Together, and in collaboration with other dedicated Kaiser Permanente practitioners and staff we will determine options that best suit your needs and circumstances."

"As a board certified Urologist, fellowship-trained at Weill Cornell Medical College in Reproductive Medicine, Microsurgery and Sexual Medicine, I bring with me the ability to perform state-of-the-art techniques for infertility patients. Many of the most-cutting edge surgeries we use in infertility practice were pioneered or significantly improved by people at Weill Cornell, so I feel lucky to have been there."

"My passion is practicing and researching male Infertility. One of my personal goals is to advance the field of infertility so we can understand the causes and develop solutions to make parenthood possible for everyone desiring to do so. To date, I have written journal articles, textbook chapter, review articles, published videos and written textbooks. I've been invited to speak on infertility at national and international institutions and scientific meetings. Together we can forge ahead and clear a pathway to parenthood for you and future generations. But beyond all the science is the art of medicine, the realization that it isn't just about me, it isn't just about science, and it isn't just about the cost, infertility treatment is all about a couple, and their journey to forming their own family."

"Time away from my practice is spent hiking and bike riding and exploring the Bay area with my wife and two children who bring me great joy and inspiration. I look forward to working with you and helping your family Thrive."
