Lisa Cookingham, MD

Lisa Cookingham, MD

"I am inspired every single day by my patients and by my profession. Whether it is helping a couple achieve their dream of having a child, or taking a woman through surgery in the least invasive way possible, or helping an adolescent girl understand her menstrual cycle, I love that I get to provide reproductive health care to women of all ages."

"My path to becoming a physician was not a direct one. I started college as a fine arts and theatre major, and was enticed by the personal connection that I felt every night with my audience. After performing in cities from New York to Chicago, my passion for the theatre was replaced with a compelling desire to do something more challenging, intellectually and creatively, that still allowed for that personal connection I so strongly desired. After moving to Arizona, a series of personal experiences drew me to medicine as the perfect profession to fulfill that which had been missing from my life in the theatre. I graduated from the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and was fortunate to train at Maricopa Medical Center and St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Obstetrics and Gynecology. The decision to subspecialize in the field of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility was unquestionably easy."

"I love my job and cannot imagine a more fulfilling career than being a Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility specialist. Not only do I have the privilege of caring for a patient's medical and surgical issues, but I am also honored to be involved in the most private aspects of a patient's life. I constantly strive to learn more by being involved in the education of other physicians, by advocating for women's health care through my positions on national committees, and by remaining active and published in clinical research, all while pushing the boundaries of my knowledge."

"I am beyond thrilled to join Kaiser Permanente's Center for Reproductive Health. I look forward to caring for you from a personalized approach, focusing on the highest quality, evidence-based, and most ethically sound medicine."
